Feed The Soil, Not The Plant

I try to tell people to think about growing a root system and not the plant.

Feeding the soil appropriately will grow a healthy root system that gives a plant what it needs to grow healthy and strong.

There is always maintenance above the soil to do on a regular basis, but a healthy plant will grow like a weed and barring getting some bugs should go pretty straight-forward.

Starting with a good living soil or well composted soil mixture is our number one choice for a base media. We like to add in some more goodness right off the start even with the best mixtures.

Our favorite additions are a healthy dose of the following items into an already healthy super soil mixture.

  • 🪱 Worm Castings
  • 🐔 Chicken Manure
  • 🥥 Coconut Coir

Once the plants start growing there is soil builder’s which need to be added regularly to keep the goodness in check and replenish lost nutrients. These soil builders can be homemade and organic in nature or packaged blends off the shelf.
