Loosely apply lids to the jars. Set the jars carefully into the water on the wire rack ensuring the water level is appropriate to not let the jars rattle or float. Jars should not touch each other. Let simmer for approx. 3-4 hours.
Remove jars from Crock Pot, cool for a short time and proceed to pour the butter through the strainer and into clean jars to remove all leaf or bud material. The spatula my be required to aid in flowing the butter through the strainer.
Whether you fry hash browns, make toast, cookies or simply add some to your tea is all up to you.
